Take a DTC order from payment to shipment

Medusa owns the commercial order. WMS owns the physical work. DTC Manager safely relays and reconciles the handoff.

How it works

  1. 1The Storefront sends cart and checkout intent to Medusa through the server-side storefront connection.
  2. 2Medusa confirms price, promotion, inventory, payment and order state.
  3. 3A browser success screen is not proof; the paid order in Medusa is proof.

  1. 1A captured Medusa order creates one fulfillment command.
  2. 2DTC Manager receives and relays the durable command to WMS.
  3. 3WMS creates or links the outgoing shipment exactly once.

  1. 1Use WMS Admin → Outgoing for all physical handling.
  2. 2Record tracking and the committed shipment state in WMS.
  3. 3Confirm the update returns through DTC Manager and appears on the Medusa order.

  • Paid in Medusa, missing in WMS → check DTC Manager fulfillment command queue
  • Shipment updated in WMS, missing in Medusa → check DTC Manager delivery effects
  • Payment or order disagreement → reconcile in Medusa before touching warehouse stock
  • Never create a second order or shipment just to make the screen look right
